The F.F. Schaeffer bow making company, founded by Floriano Shaeffer, one of Brazil’s best bow makers, is situated in the city of Aracruz on the coast north of Rio de Janiero. It has established a name as one of a number of Brazilian workshops producing excellent student and professional grade bows from sustainable pernambuco wood. The workmanship of this silver-mounted violin bow is skilled, clean and elegant, and the playability is very good indeed. The articulation is immediate and decisive, adherence to the string during fast legato strokes is very good, and spiccato is easily produced and reliable.
